What are tides?
Answer: Tides are created by gravitational interactions between the earth, moon and sun. As the earth rotates, the
moon’s gravitational force causes the oceans and other large bodies of water to “bulge” towards it, generating long-
period waves that move from deeper water to the coasts and then back out again. The regular, predictable movement of
these “waves” appears as the twice-daily rise and fall of the tides.
What is tidal energy?
Answer: power or tidal energy is a form of hydropower with a predictable output pattern that can be converted into
other useful forms of energy such as electricity. Tidal power is created as the result of rise and fall of sea levels caused by
the combined gravitational forces of moon, sun, and rotation of the earth. Therefore, tidal power is categorized in the
class of renewable energy sources.
Can RSGC work with electric grid companies too?
Answer: Yes, RSGC can and do work with electric grids. In fact, we have tailored our research projects specifically to
generate electricity renewable energy sites, particularly in remote communities with no large, centralized power grid.
Since many areas in the U.S., have the potential of renewable energy source installation, RSGC can provide technical and
professional consultation in the research area.
What is the impact of renewable energy sources on global warming?
Answer: power
Because RSGC power systems require few fossil fuels to operate and produce little emissions of any kind, they do not
contribute to the problem of global warming severely. In addition, the main focus of RSGC is on the high penetration of
renewable energy sources in the smart grids.
What is the potential for renewable energy source around the world?
Answer: According to the 2001 World Energy Council Survey of Energy Resources, the energy potential of renewable
energy sources alone exceeds 1000 gigawatts. This does not include river current energy, which has significant potential
in non-coastal areas of the world.
